Our early intervention program employs a diverse array of activities and experiences within a language-focused setting to support children's growth and competence in all developmental areas. An individual plan is developed for each child where parents can track progress on a daily basis. Our program is centered around building relationships and incorporates the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We use and teach different communication methods such as the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), visual cues, and augmentative communication techniques. Classrooms include social skills training and independent work systems. Speech, language, behavioral, and occupational therapies are seamlessly integrated into each child's classroom experience.
Research indicates that early intervention is the most effective approach. ABA and play based therapeutic approaches has been demonstrated to help children acquire functional skills and reduce unwanted behaviors. Our structured program allows for children to develop assertive, communicative, and social skills with the opportunity to engage with age-like peers.
At Pivotal's Early Intervention Program we collect data on each of our program to help in guiding our interventions and program for each child. Parents will have access to their child data daily to have insight on how their child is progressing throughout our program.
Our program is designed for children two years of age through prekindergarten with a therapeutic focus on cognitive, social-emotional, communication, behavior, motor, adaptive skill development with a relationship based approach. Pivotal Response Training is integrated into the classroom to promote and reinforce babbling, sound and word imitation, spontaneous requests, comments, and play skills. Meanwhile, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) offers children a means of communication as they develop verbal language. In our program we include independent work tasks, discrete trial training during teacher time is used to develop specific skills in the areas of receptive language and pre-academic skills, and group instructions time.
