Social Skills Groups

Preschoolers Social Skills Group

Social Skills Group for Preschoolers is a 16-week evidence-based social skills program designed for  children  between the ages of 4 to 6 years old who are struggling with forming and maintaining friendships. In each session, children learn vital social skills through interactive activities, while parents participate in separate sessions to learn how to support their children's social development.


Your child may benefit from the program if they:


  • Have few or no friends
  • Display bossy, controlling, or aggressive behavior
  • Are shy, reserved, or inattentive
  • Struggle with sharing or resolving conflicts
  • Experience being ignored, rejected, or bullied
  • Rarely receive invitations to social events


In each small-group session, children learn and practice new skills together. Weekly assignments help them apply these skills in daily life, while parents learn to support their child's social development.

The program is for children ages 4 to 6 years old who:

  • Have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder or have social challenges
  • Speak consistently and flexibly in phrases or sentences or more than 4 words 
  • Not have any significant behavioral problems (e.g. aggression)

Once we have received your application, we will email you a confirmation that we are processing your application.  PLEASE NOTE: if you do not receive a confirmation email from us within 3-5 business days after submission, please contact us at 305-707-1600.

Phone Screening

After processing, our staff will contact you to complete a phone screen and schedule the Telehealth intake appointment with one of our clinicians to determine whether the program is appropriate for you and your child.

Assessment

A pre-screening with an assessment for group readiness will occur before admission into the group is confirmed. If accepted into the program, there will be a $100 application processing fee.

Cost

The cost is $2,000 for the entire program (includes both participants and parent/caregiver/social coach group). One half of payment ($1,000) is made one-week prior to the group start dates and second payment is made on the 8th week. 


Insurance: We accept many types of insurance. Our programs are billed as outpatient group therapy sessions.

Children's Social Skills Group

Children’s Friendship Training (CFT) is a 12-week evidence-based social skills program designed for elementary school children who struggle with forming and maintaining friendships. In each session, children learn vital social skills through interactive activities, while parents participate in separate sessions to learn how to support their children's social development.

Teens SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP

Teens Social Skills Group

PEERS® for Adolescents is an evidence-based social skills program for adolescents in middle and

high school who are interested in making and keeping friends and/or handling conflict and rejection.

Adolescents and parents attend 16 weekly group sessions for 90 minutes per week. Participants are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role-play demonstrations, and practice these skills during group socialization activities by PEERS® certified providers. Parents attend separate sessions simultaneously and are taught how to assist adolescents in making and keeping friends (parent participation is required).


 What are the participation requirements?


  • Have friendship problems
  • Teens in middle school or high school
  • Teens must be interested in attending the program
  • Teens must agree to participate in the program voluntarily
  • Teens must consistently attend the program
  • Parent must be willing to participate

Young Adult Social Skills Group

YOUNG ADULT SOCIAL SKILLS GROUP

PEERS for Young Adults is an evidence-based social skills program for adults who are interested in

making and keeping friends and/or developing romantic relationships.

Young adults and social coaches (typically parents or other caregivers) attend 16 weekly group sessions for 90 minutes per week. Participants are taught social skills through didactic lessons and role-play demonstrations, and practice these skills during group socialization activities by PEERS® certified providers. Social coaches attend separate sessions simultaneously and are taught how to assist adults in

making and keeping friends and/or dating.

Additional Information

A minimum of 4 participants is required. The group is capped at 6 participants.  Planned Term year round. Enrollment is on-going. Enrollment is limited. Group instruction is provided in English. Regular attendance is imperative. Parent/Social Coach participation is required.
